January 19, 2023A three-day capacity strengthening exercise has been organized for members of the fruits cluster, under the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) – West Africa Competitiveness Programme (WACOMP) – Ghana project.
The training session which focused on branding, packaging, and good manufacturing practices (GMP), took place from the 28th to the 30th of November 2022 at the CSIR – Food Research Institute in Accra.
Twenty-six selected participants involved in the pineapple and mango value chains were taken through various modules to equip them with the requisite skills and knowledge to drive their brands’ awareness and enhance their competitiveness as a brand of choice.
The training facilitators led the participants through several interactive and practically oriented sessions on Competitor Analysis; Product Branding Assessment; Corporate Branding and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
Sharing their experiences, most of the participants expressed that they felt sufficiently empowered with the insights gained from the training and would apply these best practices to ensure their businesses gained a competitive edge in the marketplace.
Capacity building of the key actors in the identified value chains in Ghana is an integral component of meeting the goal of global conformity, under the WACOMP project – a collaborative initiative by UNIDO, the Government of Ghana, and the European Union to improve the competitiveness of Ghanaian exports, specifically, cassava, fruits (mango and pineapple) and cosmetics.
